How do I go about organising a farmers’ market? PDF Print E-mail

Farmers’ markets come in all shapes and sizes, and are run by a range of different groups, from local authorities to community groups, stallholders, volunteers, and private companies.

If you’re interested in having a farmers’ market near you, you need to consider who will organise and run it. It might be worth contacting other farmers’ markets already in your area to see if they would like to run another one, but more often than not you will need to consider whether you or someone else can take it on. If the market is to take place in a public place, you will also need to seek the permission of your local authority.

FARMA does not set up and run farmers’ markets, but it helps those who do; providing advice, support, training opportunities and accreditation, plus bottom-line benefits such as deals on insurance and cardhandling.
